Wales must avoid shortcut routes in Six Nations 2026 — a warning from Danny Wilson
Wales travels to face a Scotland side currently ranked ninth in the world, just two places below them, fresh off a Calcutta Cup victory over England that has boosted their confidence.
Gregor Townsend’s squad look like contenders for the title after a strong response to a disappointing opener in Rome. Yet Townsend himself remains under pressure as he heads to Cardiff with hopes of a sustained title push.
Wilson, who worked as one of Townsend’s assistants from 2018 to 2020 and later led Glasgow, is well positioned to gauge Scotland’s threats.
“I learned a great deal from Gregor during our time together. He’s clearly an attack-focused coach, with a clear upward trajectory,” Wilson said.
“The next step for him is to break into the Six Nations’ top three more consistently, but I think he’s done an excellent job overall.
“They’ve assembled a strong squad, combining Scottish-qualified talents with players coming through the system locally. They’ve delivered some standout performances and victories.
“They’re full of Lions players. I’ve coached them and know how high their quality is.”
