It was pure destiny that guided Shanaya Kapoor to her thrilling second film, 'Tu Ya Main' – a survival story where she embodies a social media influencer!
Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of actors Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, is sharing her excitement about her upcoming survival thriller, 'Tu Ya Main'. She believes it was a cosmic alignment, a true stroke of destiny, that landed her this significant role. She’s particularly grateful to casting director Mukesh Chhabra for recognizing her potential and offering her the chance to audition. As she's still early in her acting journey, Shanaya expressed a strong desire to explore a wide range of characters and discover her unique artistic direction.
But here's where it gets really intense: The film, which also stars the talented Adarsh Gourav, puts their characters in a terrifying predicament. Imagine a romantic getaway gone horribly wrong – their characters find themselves trapped in a swimming pool with a crocodile! This gripping survival thriller is set to release on February 13th.
Shanaya's debut film, 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan', didn't quite hit the mark at the box office. However, for Shanaya, seeing herself on the big screen for the very first time was an immense personal achievement. She explained, "I wouldn't say that it (film) didn't receive love. It didn't reflect in the numbers. But for me, it was a moment, I was happy seeing myself on the big screen. For me, that was that moment that I've been waiting for." She recounted the surreal experience of watching her debut in a theater, even if it was just for herself, emphasizing the profound personal significance of that moment.
And this is the part most people miss: Instead of letting the box office numbers define her, Shanaya has kept her focus firmly on her next venture, 'Tu Ya Main'. She stated, "I'm an actor, I want my films to do well, I want the audiences to go in, and like it (theatre) should be jam-packed. I want that and that is the dream and that's what I'm working towards and that is the aim and motivation." This unwavering dedication clearly fuels her drive.
To fully immerse herself in the role of Avani, a social media influencer, Shanaya delved into classic survival thrillers like 'Jaws', 'Crawl', and 'The Meg'. She also engaged in an unconventional acting exercise with her coach, Atul Mongia, which proved to be incredibly beneficial. She shared, "Adarsh introduced me to this technique in Atul sir's workshop. At first when I heard it, I was like, 'I don't know if this is for me and if I can do it'. But I gave it a shot and it really helped." She even drew inspiration from the movements of a black panther, noting its graceful, sensual, charming, and confident demeanor, elements she aimed to bring to her character Avani.
Shanaya described Avani as having a captivating, almost intimidating sensuality, with a gaze that's alluring rather than frightening. "My character Avani has that sensual side where you feel a little intimidated and she's just gazing, she's not looking at you in a way that you get scared, but there's something about her look," she revealed.
'Tu Ya Main' is produced by Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma, and Vinod Bhanushali.
